The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is the government-backed organisation that manages the NDIS. It is funded by the Department of Social Services (DSS). NDIA can provide you with information regarding how the NDIS can help you and solve any queries that you might have regarding the NDIS.

The following checklist is provided by (NDIS) to determine whether you are eligible to become an NDIS participant.

  • You must be an Australian resident/citizen or have a Protected Special Category Visa.
  • Below 65 years old.
  • Living in an area where the NDIS is operating.

As per the NDIS eligibility criteria, you must be below 65 years to avail of the NDIS support. So, if you are over 65, you are not eligible to receive NDIS funding, but you can access other aged care supports, i.e. My Aged Care.

Yes, all NDIS participants can receive and manage their funding as they see fit. You can choose to self-manage your plan and claim funding directly from the NDIS. Additionally, you have the option to engage someone to help you manage the funding provided by NDIS if needed. This is one of the services that NDIS offers funded support for.
